It's 12 days early, but with the weather so beautiful we couldn't resist giving Silas his birthday gift from Nona and Poppa early - His very own catcher's gear set. He was THRILLED! Much of this afternoon will be spent in the backyard.
When I finally acknowledged that it was God pulling on my heart strings, leading me to search for the next steps, the next adventure in my life, I never really thought much more about the daily presence of God I would experience as we began the process of moving west.
Truthfully, I am a person who tends to move too fast in life and, regretfully, misses out on many of the "God things" that happen to be in my reach. But as we have initiated our steps to leave Mississauga and join the church planting team in Medicine Hat, AB, I have been on the edge of my seat, watching God do His part in making this transition possible.
For starters, as I mentioned in my previous post, it has been amazing to experience the grace and generosity of people in our church community as they rally around us and help prepare our house for the market. We simply would not have been able to accomplish what we have over the last couple of weeks if it weren't for God's people bringing their time and talents to our effort. And I KNOW that it is a God thing because most of the people helping us prepare to leave don't even want us to go! They're the people who, while they are excited to see us take this step of faith, are sad that we will no longer be a daily part of one another's lives.
Secondly, and this is a direct answer to prayer, we have seen God paving a path for Elizabeth to continue her mortgage business in Medicine Hat with very little effort on our own. We began by simply asking John and Tina Bargis, the operators of Mortgage Edge, if they would allow Elizabeth to continue representing their company in Alberta. Not only are they willing, but they are going way "above and beyond" to enable it to happen. Getting licenses, criminal record checks and other formal business stuff just because they value their relationship with Elizabeth. Trust me, they have tons of other stuff going on and many other agents who produce at a higher level than Elizabeth. They don't have to do what they are doing. It is a real blessing.
And on the other end of that very same issue is where/how/when Elizabeth is able to operate in Medicine Hat. While there are still details to iron out, there is a very clear path being laid (doors being opened) which can only be attributed to God's intervention. For this we can only respond by saying "Wow, God!" and "Thanks, God!"
This weekend at Grace, the band will be leading a new song for us called "If You Say Go." It's not really a new song (2002 Vineyard), but it's new to us at Grace. I've had it in my head all week:
If You say go, we will go
If You say wait, we will wait
If You say step out on the water
And they say it can't be done
We'll fix our eyes on You
And we will come
(Diane Thiel, (c)2002 Mercy Vineyard)
